Coinbase Connects AI Agents to Derivatives Trading
Coinbase is expanding the role of artificial intelligence in crypto trading by opening access to its Deribit-powered perpetuals infrastructure for eligible AI agents.
The offering connects supported AI applications with derivatives trading capabilities, allowing users to interact with trading services through their chosen agent. Access is not automatic for every account: the global offering requires eligible non-US accounts and completion of the relevant derivatives onboarding process.
Trade approvals also depend on the permissions configured within the connected AI application. This means the level of autonomy available to an agent can vary according to the user's settings and the capabilities of the application being used.
Deribit Provides the Perpetuals Infrastructure
The service builds on Coinbase's integration with Deribit, which became part of Coinbase's derivatives infrastructure following the completion of the platform integration on October 1, 2026.
The migration moved perpetual futures trading previously powered by Coinbase International Exchange onto Deribit. Coinbase said the combined platform brings together liquidity, derivatives technology and a unified trading infrastructure.
